Financial Controller – Bury

We are recruiting a Financial Controller for a newly established entity within a successful, privately owned family group with long-standing business interests across the North West.

This newly created role is a rare opportunity to work closely with the Director and family advisor to shape a Family Office model and oversee an investment portfolio. It’s a hands-on, strategic role — ideal for someone with strong SME experience who thrives in evolving environments and is looking to become a future No.1.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of financial control including management accounts, budgeting, cashflow and forecasting
• Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, with insightful analysis and commentary
• Partner with the Director and stakeholders to support commercial decisions and long-term planning
• Evaluate investment opportunities using financial modelling and scenario analysis
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, working alongside legal and tax advisors
• Mentor and develop a small finance team, embedding best practice and continuous improvement

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior Management Accountant
• Background in SME or owner-managed businesses is strongly preferred
• Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., Sage, SAP) and advanced Excel user
• Exposure to family businesses, personal tax, or trusts would be advantageous
